The Best Buddies University Program pairs students in post-secondary institutions with adults from the community with intellectual disabilities. A university student who is a member of a the Laurier Brantford Best Buddies will be paired up with an adult/student with an intellectual disability and is expected to call their “Buddies” once per week, and go out for coffee, dinner, movies, walks, etc. every two weeks. Ultimately Best Buddies provides all participants with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a new friend. Best Buddies is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships. Our club is a perfect for you if you wish to gain experience for teaching, social work, etc. by interacting with adults who have an intellectual disability, for volunteer hours or if you want to apply yourself to the Brantford Community.
